Your blood pressure may go up if you get married-Research

New research shows that people who are married are more likely to have high blood pressure, a disease that can raise the risk of heart attack and stroke if it is not treated.


After studying husbands and wives around the world, researchers from the US found that the risk was 9% higher if people were married. They have suggested that doctors offer joint screening and treatment programmes so that couples can try to solve the problem together.


The School of Public Health at West Virginia University's Bethany Barone Gibbs said, "If your spouse has high blood pressure, you are more likely to have it too."This means that making changes to your lifestyle, like getting more exercise, lowering your stress, or eating better, can all lower your blood pressure.
